The Snake Plant is one of the toughest and most forgiving houseplants you can own. Its upright, sword-shaped leaves feature striking shades of green with distinctive banding, creating a bold architectural look that complements any décor—from modern and minimalist to lush tropical.

☀️ Light

Thrives with an indirect view of the sky.

Snake Plants grow best in bright, indirect light but adapt exceptionally well to medium and lower light conditions. They can tolerate some direct morning or evening sun but should be protected from prolonged harsh afternoon sunlight.

💧 Water

Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry 100% before watering again.

Snake Plants store water in their thick leaves and are highly drought tolerant. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems, so when in doubt, wait a few more days before watering.

🌡️ Temperature & Environment

Prefers temperatures between 60–85°F.

Protect from temperatures below 50°F and avoid cold drafts. Average household humidity is ideal.

🌱 Soil

Plant in a fast-draining cactus or succulent potting mix, or a well-draining indoor mix amended with extra perlite. Always use a container with drainage holes.

🪴 Growth Habit

A slow-growing, upright plant that spreads by underground rhizomes, gradually producing new shoots to form a fuller clump over time.

Not pet-safe. Snake Plants are toxic if ingested by cats and dogs and may cause gastrointestinal upset.

🌿 Fleurish Tip

Snake Plants actually prefer to be a little neglected. They're happiest when allowed to dry out completely between waterings, and they don't mind being slightly root-bound. If your Snake Plant starts producing new pups, it's a sign it's thriving!
