Hoya 'Sweetheart Variegated'

Hoya 'Sweetheart Variegated'

  • Botanical Name: Hoya kerrii

Common Name(s): Sweetheart, Lucky-Heart, Wax Plant

    Description:
The Hoya kerrii, often called the Sweetheart or Lucky-Heart plant, is a slow-growing evergreen native to tropical Asia. This charming plant is loved for its thick, waxy, heart-shaped leaves that make it an adorable gift or novelty plant. The variegated version displays splashes of yellow across the leaf, adding even more charm. While single-leaf cuttings are extremely hardy, they grow very slowly and usually remain as ornamental pieces. With proper care and patience, mature plants will eventually produce long, woody vines covered with multiple heart-shaped leaves, and can even reward growers with clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers.

    Care Instructions:

    • Sunlight: Prefers a wide view of the sky but adapts well to an indirect view of the sky. More light encourages stronger growth.

    • Water: Allow the plant to dry out about 75% in the summer and 100% in the winter before watering again. Single-leaf cuttings require very minimal water.

    • Humidity: Adapts to average household humidity but appreciates moderate levels.

    • Soil: Plant in a well-draining mix such as cactus or succulent soil with added perlite.

    • Growth Habit: Extremely slow grower; single-leaf cuttings remain ornamental, while established plants form woody vines over time.

    • Pet Friendly: ✅ Safe for cats and dogs.

    Note:
🌱 This offering is a single-leaf cutting and will not produce vines. It is ideal as a hardy, low-maintenance ornamental plant or novelty gift.
