Note: While Calathea species are sometimes mistakenly called "Peacock Plant" or "Zebra Plant," those common names more accurately refer to other Calathea species. Calathea ornata is most commonly known as the Pinstripe Calathea.

🌱 Description

The Pinstripe Calathea is a true showstopper, admired for its deep green leaves delicately adorned with fine pink and white pinstripes that look as though they were hand-painted. Flip the leaves over to reveal rich burgundy-purple undersides, adding even more beauty and contrast to this elegant tropical.

Like other prayer plants, the Pinstripe Calathea raises and lowers its leaves throughout the day in response to light, creating gentle movement that brings your indoor jungle to life. Its striking foliage and compact growth habit make it a favorite for tabletops, shelves, and bright indoor spaces.

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade the beautiful pinstriping and scorch the leaves.

💧 Water

Summer: Keep the soil lightly moist, allowing only the top 10–20% of the soil to dry before watering.

Winter: Allow the top 25% of the soil to dry before watering.

Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Do not allow the soil to become completely dry.

Yes! Pinstripe Calathea is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

🌿 Fleurish Tip

If your Calathea's leaves begin to curl, it's usually telling you it's thirsty. Water thoroughly when the top portion of the soil has dried, and rotate your plant every couple of weeks to encourage balanced growth and keep those beautiful pinstripes on display.
