🌿 Sansevieria trifasciata
Botanical Name: Sansevieria trifasciata
Common Names: Snake Plant, Laurentii, Mother-in-Law’s Tongue
Description
An evergreen perennial native to tropical West Africa and Nigeria. This low-maintenance houseplant is prized as a natural air purifier. It has strong, upright, sword-shaped leaves that store water, making it highly drought-tolerant. This variety features a washed-out, grey-green look for a unique, architectural accent. Easily propagated by leaf cuttings to share with friends or grow your own collection.
Light
☀️ Wideview of the Sky to Indirect View of the Sky — Very adaptable; grows best in bright, indirect light but tolerates low light and some direct sun.
Water
💧 Allow soil to dry about 70–90% down between waterings. Snake plants prefer being on the dry side; overwatering is the most common problem.
Soil
🌱 Well-draining cactus or succulent mix, or standard potting mix amended with sand/perlite.
Fertilizer
🌿 Feed with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Little to no feeding needed in winter.
Maintenance
✂️ Wipe leaves to remove dust and enhance their look. Repot only when root-bound; Sansevieria like to be snug in their pots.
Pet Info
🐾 Toxic to pets if ingested (contains saponins). Keep out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children.
